recognitions on reading Naomi Shihab Nye
The latest class of VerbTribe just ended. This week, I will feature on 37days the writing of VerbTribe members in this most recent class. These excerpts are in response to daily prompts the class provides, and I hope you will appreciate the voices of these writers. If you’re interested in becoming a VerbTribe member, go here for more information on the next class that begins January 3, 2013.
Reflections on the journey
-Ginny Snyder
As “moth wings marry the air”:
Like the swirl of ash above flame,
block,stops,fears
have caught in updrafts
of light and expression,
rising into the dusk of nether only to cool,
fall, catch in twigs faroff in a somewhere else forest
away from sight and knowing.
In the shouting celebrating absence-space
I find a pebble (“so little is stone”).
A heart-shaped angel’s tear
weathered by ruthless inspiration
and relentless love.
I choose no regret.
Only that edgeless joy
again.
