In this new year, I would rather be….

wise than smart…

kind than clever…

wrong than right*…

at peace than striving…

curious than sure…

playing than pontificating…

approached than ignored…

talked "with" than talked "at"…

hugged than hated…

stretched than shrunk…

loved than feared…

here than missing…

naive than cynical…

dreaming than doubting…

shining than smoldering…

healing than hurting…

fixing than criticizing…

grateful than needy…

focused than fractured…

supportive than critical…

opened up than closed down…

assuming abundance rather than lack…

How about you?

(*because "wrong" seems a place of learning while "right" is a place of defending territory.)

and i would rather be connecting than building barriers
and i would rather be disconnecting than taking on too much.

and I plan to both succeed and fail at all of these things. but today has been the best day this year. so far.

I would rather be satsified than envious…
I would rather be at peace than disturbed…

2009 taught me a world of things…and I hope to continue evolving in a stronger person in 2010

Beautiful and so on point in every way! I especially like “wrong rather than right*” for the reason you state and the fact that it makes you stop and think. I also really like “assuming abundance rather than lack”. Thank you for reposting this as I may not have ever found it otherwise!!!!
