Bloglet blues…

Plumber_1[Update: To Bloglet subscribers – because of repeated service interruptions and nonresponsiveness with Bloglet, I have discontinued its use. You will receive email updates to 37days through FeedBlitz instead. This should be a seamless transition for you and require no additional action on your part, but if there are any problems, please email me to let me know. Thanks for reading 37days and my apologies for any inconvenience!]

Many readers subscribe to 37days through a service called "Bloglet," which delivers an email to them each time the site is updated. Service has been "okay" with Bloglet over the months I’ve used them, with sporadic outages, and now my Bloglet account has been down altogether for over 3 weeks.

Every email I’ve sent to the Bloglet owner to resolve this issue has been returned to me undeliverable and, therefore, unanswered … and meanwhile, readers of 37days who subscribe through Bloglet aren’t getting updates.

So, if you are a Bloglet subscriber and have wandered here to see if I’m still alive, I am.

I’m taking down the "subscribe using Bloglet" option and am working on another option to replace Bloglet – should any readers have a great idea about how best to manage email subscriptions (perhaps exporting Bloglet subscribers to a new service?), I’m open to suggestions!

  • I recommend you talk to Mike Sansone over at http://www.Converstations.com. He helped us get a subscription service up and running via Feedburner.

He is a good blogging/conversational media resource in many ways.

  • Hi Patti, I just discovered your blog and am really enjoying it. You seem like a kindred spirit! To answer your Bloglet blues, I highly recommend FeedBlitz. I switched over to them a few months ago and am really happy with them. Plus they have a TypePad widget that makes life easy.

  • Patti – I love your blog, and really enjoy checking in “live” though I first get your info via RSS at Bloglines.

As Carla said, Feedblitz is wonderful. Feedburner also offers this now, and I believe you just “burned your feed” with them, so perhaps your friend who helped with that could help with this??

Also, Mike Sansone is DEFINITELY a great recommendation, as he’s a super friendly guy who loves to help people!

Hope this helps! Let me know if I can help you in any way!

  • mike, carla, phil – thanks to each of you for the suggestions (and more importantly, the moral support)…I’ve opted for Feedblitz as an alternative to Bloglet. Seems that Bloglet has quite a widespread reputation for poor service now that I’ve been looking into it… so this will be a good change. And Carla, yes – the Typepad widget was a breeze (I don’t even really know what a widget is, but I clicked one button and that nice little subscribe box appeared…yee-haw!) So thanks everyone…!
