  • Amen, and pass the mustard and another ice-cold beverage, please!

How old is your flag, Patti? Must be almost as old as I am, given the 48 stars present in the field of blue.

We just had our neighborhood parade, probably 80 to 100 people of all ages utilizing all sorts of transportation, led by a fire truck and two bagpipers. Smiles a mile wide in such a crowd are fun to see and photograph.

  • Aw…you answered my question more than two years ago, Patti! Your flag is from 1876 and actually has 38 stars.

That is one good-looking 133-year-old flag!

  • Rick – John says 1877 (I was off by a year) and it was presented to veterans of the Battle of Gettysburg during a ceremony on the 15th anniversary of that battle. It is huge – 7′ x 12′ and hangs on our porch, a gift from the great-great-nephew of the man who received it in that ceremony.

From middle GA comes this story. I think it says something about the need to make do and the need to create. And yes, of course, Patriotism.
