poetry wednesday : it felt love

Rose-with-dew.jpeg It Felt Love

How
Did the rose
Ever open its heart

And give to this world
All its
Beauty?

It felt the encouragement of light
Against its
Being,

Otherwise,
We all remain

Too

Frightened.

-Hafiz

A man named Joe found 37days this week by following a search for a poem by Mary Oliver. He sent this poem by Hafiz with this note: "I did not know of you or your writing, when I went searching for a poem by Mary Oliver and found your post (happiness, holy, palpable and redemptive, mmmmmmm).  I typed in a favorite poem as a kind of thank you…I hope some some kind of human warmth is transmitted along with this text."

Indeed, some kind of human warmth was transmitted and I am sending it on into the world for others to feel, with these words from Hafiz. My thanks, Joe.
