a dream of rebirth : stage one

Here is my Facebook status from yesterday afternoon:

Never have I been so happy to see these two words in such close proximity: “stage” and “one.” Surgery soon.

As I mentioned on 3x3x365 today, it might have been otherwise. I am so fully aware of that.

John’s surgery will be on September 5th.

Yesterday afternoon on the way home from hearing this news from the surgeon, we stopped at the post office to pick up our mail.

And this gorgeous piece of art was there, waiting for us. The artist is a new friend of mine on Facebook named Gene-Manuel. He wrote that the title of the artwork is A Dream of Rebirth: “The dragonfly and butterfly are symbols of rebirth after a period of transition. They stand for our power to rise to the occasion and are also symbols of survival.”

Oh, how gorgeous. I wish you could see it in person. It is breathtaking.

Thank you for providing such a beautiful memento of this special day, Gene-Manuel. We may subtitle this piece “Stage One.”

What will we do with our rebirth? What will you do with yours?

Love,
