your daily rock : give someone an award!

At the end of Tess’ camp this summer, families of the campers gathered for their talent show. Some kids sang, some built things from Legos, some at the last moment couldn’t be persuaded to move from their chairs to participate. It didn’t matter. In their own way, they each made a strong offer. And so did their counselors. Each counselor had created an award for their camper that mirrored the camper’s interests and celebrated what they had done during that week. Tess’ counselor knew Tess loves kangaroos, so Tess got a Krazy Kangaroo award with a statement on the back about what it meant and what it was for.
Tess loves that award. She carried it home so proudly and put it on her wall. Because that award meant “I see you. I really see you.”
Everyone needs an award once in a while.
Do you know someone at work who always lightens the mood? Make them an award for that and give it to them today. Is there someone at your apartment building who keeps it looking beautiful? Give that man or woman an award! Is there someone on Facebook who cheers you up or makes you think? Make an award and send it to them electronically. Tell them why and what it means to you.
Imagine if we all did this every day.
Just imagine.
A world of people being seen.
Love,
