Favorites for the Morning

Every once in a while I write about some of my favorite things (or favoUrite things, since I’m an honorary Canadian). Just because they are my favorites. No affiliate links, no sales pitch, just sharing in the hopes some of what I share might be helpful to you, too.

What are my favorite things in the morning?

A few years ago, I stopped drinking coffee. I don’t know why; I just did. Tea became my morning beverage of choice. At first, this Coconut Chai was my addiction and I still love it. But after a recent trip to a lavender farm on Whidbey Island, and a purchase of a tin of tea from their gift shop, I’ve been unable to drink anything but Lavender Sunrise Tea, which is lavender and Earl Grey tea mixed into a heady blend. It doesn’t have the bitter sharpness of other lavender/Earl Grey combos I’ve tried, and I’ve tried a lot of them. I have Lavender Wind Farm on autodial. My tea jar is full of this aroma.

How do I make it? In a tall earthenware mug made by a man in Utah, I put about 1/4 teaspoon organic sugar, followed by 1-2 tablespoons of Silk Soy Creamer (yes, I put it in before brewing the tea). When the water is just about at a boil, I pour it into the mug over 1 tablespoon of loose tea in an infuser like this so water can swirl around the tea leaves. I find these compress the tea too much for my liking. 3-5 minutes later, I remove the infuser and have a golden delicious cup of tea. Since my heart attack, I can only drink one cup a day, so I make it special.

Early morning face-washing has become a joy with this green tea foaming soap. Ah, the scent and the feel of it. Oh, and the exfoliating. Then, of course, there’s the toner and lavender moisturizer that I’m slightly addicted to. As one is.

I started using Toothy Tabs as my toothpaste for travel since they aren’t messy and don’t need to be put into my damned 1 qt plastic bag, that ridiculous paragon of paranoia. And now I use them all the time. Just crunch into one, add water from your toothbrush and you’ve got yourself some foaming action.

Then there is Yoga by Adriene to get me moving and grounded.

Good morning, y’all!
