Need help in NYC…
I'm very excited to be coming to New York in February to attend the Books for a Better Life Awards ceremony. Life is a Verb is one of five finalists, out of 450 nominees, in the "Inspirational Memoir" category and the winner will be announced on February 23rd. It's up against some stiff competition including Randy Pausch's bestseller, The Last Lecture. I'm honored to be in that group.
I can't go. I don't have a thing to wear.
I'll be winging my way there straight from a speech in Miami that morning and meeting my dear Emma in New York for the big event. It seems fitting to take with me the very human for whom the book was written, don't you think? (Along with her sister, Tess, of course, who will remain home much to her chagrin). We'll stay at my favorite hotel in New York, the Roger Smith, for two nights–and see as much of New York as we can in one day before we go broke!
I'd love to do a book event while there. I can ask the publisher to query bookshops, but also wanted to put the question out to 37days readers because you are the very best people in the world: is there anyone who would like to help arrange a book event for your school, church, women's group, book group, 4-H club on February 24th? If so, let's talk…
As for the rest of you, please plan to modazz good fun for February 23rd for me and Emma. Perhaps she'll wear her prom dress and twirl a lot just for the sheer joy of it. She says adamantly that she needs to take me shopping. I don't know what she means by that.
