Flying Pig Alert!
See, the thing about telling people you're going to do something is that then you kinda have to do it. Especially if you invite them to come with you to do it and they SHOCKINGLY say yes!
Fifteen people from ten states have thus far signed up to walk/run/crawl the famed Flying Pig half-marathon in Cincinnati with me and Emma on May 3, 2009!
I've never done anything like this in my life and I'm not a runner or even much of a walker and I don't really like crowds and today I completely lost it when I realized that it is just 93 days away but hey, thanks to my friend Mary I've decided to be ENERGIZED by that time frame instead of panicked beyond belief. And if I say that enough times, perhaps I will even believe it.
That's all to say this–don't you want to come with us? We'll wear funky 37days Team t-shirts designed by Emma and get up at the crack of dawn to climb the hills of Cincinnati (I thought it was flat, it is sorta not), just to say we did. We'll raise money for a fabulous charity (more on that later). Some of us will walk the race and some will run it. It will be all kinds of fun. Mr Brilliant and Tessie will be there with big cowbells to cheer us on. If we survive, we'll eat big vats of pasta on Sunday night after the race and toast ourselves silly.
If you're inclined, the registration fee for the race will increase after January 31st (Saturday), so best to do it now. Plus, like having kids, if you think about it too long or try to be all rational about it, you'll never do it. Best to leap!
Come! We'll have all kinds of fun!
