And the scarf goes to….

37days – 50th Birthday Year Giveaway #1 Winner! from Patti Digh on Vimeo.

The first of 50 giveaways to 37days readers began this week with a beautiful felted wool scarf donated by artist Chad Alice Hagen. I told the story of the scarf earlier in the week and folks from all over the world wrote to share their favorite poem and be entered in the drawing to win the scarf. What beautiful poetry! What a gift – my thanks to all who left a sign of their presence in such a beautiful, meaningful way.

After an extraordinary day in Saluda, North Carolina, where I read from Life is a Verb and met amazing people at Random Arts, a place with soul and energy such as you've never felt, little Tess this evening did the honors of picking a winner for the scarf from all those who entered.

And the scarf goes to….(surprise! watch the video!)

Congratulations!

Do come on back on Monday for the next in the 37days "HEY I'M TURNING 50" giveaways. Next week there will be two giveaways, one for folks online and one for those who come to my reading at Charis Books in Atlanta on Thursday, February 5th…

  • Patti, first, welcome to the year of 50. I had mine last year and it was wonderful. I learned so much about myself and, in a far less generous gesture, gave myself the gift of taking better care of my body. But it was this act of celebrating ALL YEAR LONG that was magical.

I love your idea and know you will gain so much joy from it, not even counting the joy you will bring to others. Brilliant!

This is just so much fun to watch. Thanks for sharing your celebration and the amazing art you found from far and wide. I think Tess may have a future in spokesmodeling, if this whole elementary school thing doesn’t work out perhaps it could be a fallback?

Love the video! This was fun, Patti, and at least I didn’t have to get dressed up for Ed McMahon! (And it’s even Super Bowl Sunday!!! Did you plan it that way in honor of your mom? Ha, ha!)

  • Congratulations to the winner!
